I use a lot of various software throughout the week and the year. This is the first package that has done a lot of what I need, right out of the box. Most packages have to be initially customized and tweaked to fit my needs. "Readerware" was install-and-go. That is over 100 items that I did not have to manually input. I also love that later on I can customize the database for my unique collections.

Love your product - tell all my friends about it. The biggest sale point is when they come over and want to see a DVD. We pull out our catalog with all the pictures and they flip out. It also allows us to save a ton of space because we don't keep the jewel cases and put them in binders, noting the binder number in the catalog.

One good selling point that you don't mention is insurance. I own about 1200 books, 800 DVD's and roughly 600 CD's - estimated around $35,000 of media. I have my insurance company aware of this. If I lose everything in a fire, theft or natural disaster I have the list backed up on a server using Mozy. I could download the lists, send them all to my insurance company and have a check cut for everything to be replaced. So I spend $75 to to account for $35,000 dollars - it's a no brainier.

I've just installed and tried out Readerware for my book collection.

That's surprising for me, because a) I use Windows XP x64 Edition, and b) I have a very unusual and eclectic personal library.

It was a really pleasant surprise that I could enter ISBNs for a number of unusual books (and even some mainstream titles) that I've acquired, and the Readerware application found a lot more information automatically in 10 minutes than I've been able to manually collect in the past 20 years. I didn't even have to type much.

While I haven't recently tried to improve my collection database due to the incredible amount of extra work that's required to find, extract, filter, conform, and apply information to individual titles, I designed and built an Interbase database specifically for the collection and designed and built a frontend for the database (across 9 operating systems!), so I know how difficult and time-consuming (and error prone!) the data addition process is, even for my measly library (around 1,200 titles).

So I appreciated the ability to let your software do the legwork, and I appreciated even more the ability to review and manually "fine tune" data found by your search processes.

That's why I bought the product. I did more for my book collection in two hours and less than 200 keystrokes and a dozen mouse clicks with Readerware than I've done in 18+ years and close to 40,000 lines of code across DOS, Windows 3.0, Win3.1, Win95, Win98, Windows NT, and finally Windows XP 32 and 64.

Unfortunately my books are not organized ala Dewey Decimel so I have to zero in on a given volume's specific location when I want to dig it out. I did have a shareware library program that served me well for about ten years but when the computer died, it took that program with it.

Stumbled on your program while searching the web. First figured too expensive for me, given all the claims but happily discovered it was only $40. Downloaded trial and decided within minuted that I had to have it.

I'm still recompiling my directory but not only is the task no longer daunting, it's actually fun.

Simply put, I am astounded. I purchased and downloaded Readerware and simultaneously ordered a funky looking, toy-like, CueCat on eBay as suggested on the Readerware site.

Perhaps by some fluke, I received the CueCat (yep, looked like a dime store toy) in 48 hours. By the end of the same day I had cataloged more than 650 books! The program is both easy and powerful - yet ECONOMICAL! I didn't know that was possible. I hate to ruin it for others, but the application would have been worth MUCH more to me than I paid ($50 w/cd). I'm just blown away.

BTW - the CueCat (about $15) performed FLAWLESSLY with Readerware. Swipe, beep, loaded. Wow.

I've just started using Readerware and I'm very impressed. In the past, I considered manually cataloging my book collection, but the prospect of tackling 2,000 works didn't hold much appeal. Using Readerware and a barcode scanner, I finished the job in half a day.

Even better, Readerware has already paid for itself. I not only have a reasonably large book collection, I also have a terrible memory, so I often end up buying books that I already own (a fact that I usually only realise when I'm halfway through reading my "new" purchase and its far too late to return it). Now, I carry an HTML version of my catalog around with me on my PocketPC and can browse it when I'm in bookstores to see if I've already got a particular book. This past weekend, I managed to avoid buying two books that I already have at home, a £40 ($70) saving. There are very few software products that pay for themselves within three days of purchase, but Readerware is one.

I have found your product to be a critical part to adding DVD's to my DVD library and then maintaining the library once the DVD has been added. My DVD library is very large and had become very unruly, until a friend told me about READERWARE-VW that is. Since my purchase, I have been able to put all my DVD's into the database and now I can maintain the database information by just investing a couple of minutes whenever I add a new DVD. This software is very user friendly and produces excellent reports, making it very easy to find the DVD that I am looking for. Now when my wife asks about a DVD, I can go right to it, instead of spending 30-60 minutes looking through each binder until I find the movie we wanted. As you can imagine, our movie time has become much more enjoyable since we spend more time watching movies instead of looking for them.

I can't begin to explain how great your product is. So much thought went into the development of this software and it works extremely well. I especially love the cross-platform features, as I am a huge Mac fan. I started with the single user version and was so impressed I ordered the Client/Server so I could have the software on all of my 4 computers. The pricing is very reasonable, for all versions.

What I really wanted to relate was that I was especially pleased to see the update for MacOS X (2.861) so soon after encountering the problem with the interface. I can't tell you how many software companies (Apple computer being one of the worst, in my book) just ignore repeated complaints about obvious bugs in software.

To not even have to contact support about the problem was good in itself, but to see the patch just waiting for me on the ReaderWare website as an acknowledged and solved problem really made my day.

Keep up the great work guys! Great product and great support. Other companies could learn a real lesson from you.

I just got my Cue Cat in the mail yesterday and I’ve cataloged almost 200 books. I love it. It’s easy to use and makes it easy to collect so much data quickly. I’ve got a wireless LAN so I can go right to the bookshelves or to the stacks of books on the floor, scan and download the details about the books in minutes. I’ve been attempting to create a database manually and never completed it. Too much typing! Readerware has solved my problems. I’ve got hundreds of books in many genres.
