2.984
changes
Some of the highlights in 2.984.
Improved support for Leopard the latest version of Mac OS X.
The full install on Windows & Linux now includes Java 6. For
Vista users this offers a more Vista like look and feel.
Fixed a problem with missing images in the report writer. The
spacing
images used by some of the templates were missing after the change in
the report generation location introduced in 2.983. The images are now
in the correct location.
Upgrade policy
Most
of you
know this by now, Readerware 2.984 is a free upgrade. All
2.x upgrades are free.
You can always download the latest 2.x release for free. If you ever
want
the latest version on CD, you can order it from the web site for $12.

Compatible
with Leopard & Vista
Readerware
2.984 resolves a couple of cosmetic issues running under Leopard the
latest version of Mac OS X. If you are running an earlier version under
Leopard, 2.984 is a recommended upgrade.
The Windows and Linux full installs now include the Java 6 runtime.
This offers better support for the Windows Vista look and feel. So
Vista users will want to download the full install rather than the
upgrade install to take advantage of the new features in Java 6. Just
install over your current installation.
The Java 6 runtime also offers faster start up times and many other
improvements, so Linux users
and users of Windows XP and Windows 2000 may
also want to use the full install.
Java 6 is not compatible
with Windows 95/98/ME so these users should download the upgrade
install or use the Windows alternate build full install.

FAQ: How can I
change the default cover images?
If there is no cover art available for an item, Readerware displays a
default image. Occasionally I get asked if it is possible to change
these default images.
The default images are included in your Readerware installation in the
images folder. They are:
| cover.gif |
Readerware default image |
| cd.gif |
ReaderwareAW default image |
| movie.gif |
ReaderwareVW default image |
Windows and Linux users will find the images folder in their Readerware
installation folder. Mac OS X users will find the images folder inside
the application package.
Control-click on the program icon. Select Show package contents
from the popup menu. Double click on Contents, Resources, Java, images.
To replace the default image with your own simply replace the
appropriate file with your own file. The image must be a GIF format
image and should be thumbnail sized.
If you would prefer not to have any default images displayed, delete
the appropriate file.

Readerware support
There is nothing more important than answering your questions. You can
always e-mail support@readerware.com and expect a reply in a couple of
hours. 24 hours maximum. Unfortunately e-mail communications are not as
reliable as they once were. Spam and the various schemes people have
dreamed up to combat spam are interfering with normal e-mail
communications.
If you have not received a response to your support request within 24
hours, something has gone wrong.
- Check any Spam or message filters, the response may be there.
- Check with your ISP or system administrator. Sites are
implementing various defense
mechanisms which often block legitimate e-mail.
- If you are using a challenge system, please check to see if your
response is being held. I do try and respond to challenge e-mail, but
it can mean your response is delayed.
- If you are using AOL, check your Mail
Controls.
If you have not received a response within 24 hours, don't wait any
longer, send a follow up e-mail or post to the Readerware Forums. If
possible try and include an
alternate e-mail address. I will re-send your answer from another
e-mail server to all addresses you specify.
Obviously Spam is a real problem. But it is important to
realize that none of the defense mechanisms are anywhere near 100%
accurate. There is nothing more frustrating for you than feeling
ignored, you aren't being ignored. Every e-mail you send is answered
promptly. From this end there is nothing more frustrating than taking
the time to create a reply that is never seen then getting a "why
aren't you responding" e-mail a couple of days later.
All support e-mail is answered within 24 hours, if you don't get that
response, check your anti-spam measures and try again.
Thanks.
