Readerware 1.10
A major new version of Readerware has been released. Readerware 1.10 includes support
for adding cover art to the database. Many of you have asked for the ability to add
thumbnail images of book covers to the database and here it is. What's more it's
automatic, it is part of the Readerware auto catalog feature. Now whenever you import
from a web site into Readerware, in either batch or interactive mode, the cover art
is automatically added to the database, nothing could be simpler.
Current users, don't worry, you can also add images to your existing database, all at
the click of a button. Simply go to the Batch Import screen, select the web sites you
want to search and click on "Add Images to DB". Readerware will then attempt to find
an image for every book in your database automatically.
Of course not all cover images are available on the web, you can also add your own
images. Scan in an image of the book cover and then from the Data Entry screen simply
click on "Select Image". Readerware will then copy the image and add it to the
database. So you can now add cover art for all your books.
Readerware includes a default image for all books that do not have a specific cover
image. Like all features of Readerware, this is customizable. You can easily add your
own default image or remove the default image completely.
As is often the case there is a trade off, adding images means a bigger database. You
don't have to add images for all the books in your collection, but if you want to
turn off the cover art feature, you can. Go to the Database Options dialog to turn
off image support. You can always turn it on again later if you change your mind. Use
the add images procedure described above to add images to an existing database.
So what does all this new functionality cost? This is a free upgrade for all existing
users, your current registration key covers all 1.x releases. Enjoy!
What else is new?
There are a couple of bug fixes in Readerware 1.10. The most important issue is that
Amazon just changed their web site format and Readerware imports from the Amazon site
could fail. Support for the updated Amazon web site is now available in Readerware
1.10.
Upgrading to Readerware 1.10

is a self extracting file, just doubleclick on it after you download it to begin the
upgrade process. Make sure you pick the same directory that you installed Readerware
in, and then click on the "Unzip" button. Your existing Readerware 1.x installation
will be upgraded to 1.10.

If you prefer you can download the full install instead, but the upgrade is a lot
smaller.
Tip: Keeping track of your want lists
Do you have problems keeping track of the new titles you want to order? Want to keep
track of the latest titles by your favorite authors? Do you find yourself reading a
review and then using a yellow sticky to remind yourself to order the title?
The Readerware shopping cart can be the answer to all of these problems. As you run
across a title you want to add to your collection, new or used, import it into
Readerware! It is automatically added to your database and shopping cart. But the
Readerware shopping cart is different, things stay in your cart until you delete
them. you do not have to order the titles right away, you don't have to order online.
Accumulate titles in your shopping cart until you are ready to place an order. Using
your Readerware shopping cart you can find the lowest prices and place your order
right there when you are ready. You can also track which titles you have ordered.
Change your mind about a title? No problem, simply delete it from your shopping cart.
The Readerware shopping cart allows you to place orders with any of our partner sites
in The US, Canada and The UK. But you can also print it out and take it with you to
your neighborhood bookstore.
