Readerware 1.01

A new version of Readerware has been released. Readerware 1.01 adds support for the new Library of Congress database, Voyager. The Library of Congress is closing their current system known as LOCIS. This is an old mainframe based system which has been in use for many years. LOCIS is still available but it is no longer being updated and will close permanently at the end of the year. The new Voyager database is a web based system. For now Readerware is supporting both Voyager and LOCIS, we will drop support for LOCIS when it is removed from service.

All these changes will have little impact on you. You can still search the Library of Congress just as you did before, the switch to the new database is transparent to Readerware users.

You can learn more about all the changes at The Library of Congress by visiting their web site, http://lcweb.loc.gov/catalog/

Upgrading to Readerware 1.01

We have rearranged our download pages a little. You will now find two download links, one for the full install and another for the upgrade. The easiest way to upgrade to Readerware 1.01, is to download the upgrade file. This is a self extracting file, just double-click on the downloaded file to begin the upgrade. Make sure you pick the same directory as you installed Readerware in, and then click the Unzip button. Your existing Readerware 1.0 installation will be upgraded to 1.01.

If you have any problems with the upgrade, please contact us at support@readerware.com.

If you prefer you can download the full install instead, but the upgrade is a lot smaller.

Tip: Don't forget you can always check for upgrades from the Readerware Help menu. Announcements are also posted to the Readerware user home page, that's the page you see when you first open the Readerware Web Browser window.

Readerware 1.01 for Linux

We have also released a version of Readerware for Linux users. Readerware for Linux has all the same great features as the Windows version. If you already have a database that you created with Readerware for Windows, no problem, you can use the same database with the Linux version. The download and full installation instructions are available from our web site.

Support Readerware

You can support Readerware and ensure that the new features keep on coming. Use Readerware when making your online purchases. If you order using the Readerware browser or shopping cart, Readerware normally receives a commission from the vendor. The Readerware browser uses the same encryption technology as the major browsers so you can order online, safely and securely using Readerware. Plus it ensures continued development of Readerware.
