Readerware for Palm™ Handhelds
Readerware and ReaderwareVW for Palm™ Handhelds run on Palm and compatible devices
such as the Handspring Visor. See below for hardware
requirements.
Readerware for Palm Handhelds is not a standalone product, but an
add on to Readerware for the desktop. It is not possible to
build a database yet using Readerware for Palm Handhelds, rather
the database is built using Readerware Auto-Catalog, imports from
other databases etc. Readerware release 1.80 and higher includes the
ability to create a Palm PDB file from your Readerware
database. This is then transferred to your Palm using the
HotSync utility that came with it.
Browsing your database
When you first start Readerware, it will automatically
display the first page of your database.
Use the next and previous buttons in the toolbar to scroll through
the database a page at a time. Click on the Home button to return to the
beginning of your database.
Simple Yet Powerful Searching
Searching your local database couldn't be easier. Click on the
search button and then enter the search text using Palm graffiti.
You only have to enter the first few characters. For example you
might just enter 'tho' when looking for books by Jim Thompson. Notice
that Readerware can automatically adjust the case for you. Entering
search text in Readerware couldn't be easier.
Detail Display
Want more information on a book, just click on any title and Readerware
will display full details about the book.
Readerware Shopping Cart
Your Readerware shopping cart is automatically transferred to
your Palm. Use it to keep track of new releases your
are interested in, your want list etc. Just click on the
shopping cart button to display all the books in your
shopping cart.
Readerware for Palm Handhelds
The goal for the first release of Readerware for Palm Handhelds is to allow
you to easily take your Readerware database with you. Many of us shop online,
(Readerware for the desktop can make it even easier and cheaper to shop online),
but fortunately there are still great new and used bookstores out there. Now
when you make your next trip to your favorite brick and mortar bookstore,
you can take your Readerware database with you. Know what you have and what
you want wherever you are, with Readerware for Palm Handhelds!
Palm Hardware Requirements
Readerware for the Palm has been tested on Palm
models with both 2MB and 8MB of memory. How much memory you
will need will of course depend on the size of your database
and the mix of other applications you have installed.
Readerware for Palm Handhelds has been tested on both Palm
units and the Handspring Visor. In theory it should work on
any device running the Palm OS.
A typical Readerware database with over 1500 entries
requires about 250KB of memory.
