  • May 7th, 2000 - Readerware 1.35 is now available. Readerware 1.35 adds improved import/export features, allowing you to transfer data to and from Readerware and other applications and online services. For example you could use the Readerware auto-catalog feature to provide data for other applications. You can migrate data from other book databases into Readerware. You can also upload books you have for sale to online services such as ABE and Alibris. Plus a new export options dialog gives you greater control over what fields are exported and data conversion.

    Readerware can now export to the following formats:

    • CSV, (Comma Separated Value)
    • TAB Delimited
    • UIEE, (Universal Information Exchange Environment)
    • HTML

    Readerware can now import from the following formats:

    • CSV, (Comma Separated Value)
    • TAB Delimited

    In addition the Readerware CSV import/export support has been improved for greater compatibility with other applications. Readerware online help has been updated with complete information on the new support and file formats.

  • April 30th, 2000 - Readerware 1.34 is now available. Readerware 1.34 adds support for exporting all or parts of a Readerware database to UIEE (Universal Information Exchange Environment) and TAB delimited file formats. This feature is designed to allow you to transfer data from Readerware to other applications and online services. For example you could use the Readerware auto-catalog feature to provide data for other applications. You can upload books you have for sale to online services such as ABE and Alibris.

  • April 29th, 2000 - Readerware 1.32 is now available. Readerware 1.32 is a maintenance release.

    This release focuses on improvements to The Readerware Browser. A problem accessing Powells has been fixed.

  • April 23rd, 2000 - Readerware 1.31 is now available. Readerware 1.31 is an important maintenance release, all users should upgrade. Readerware 1.31 includes an updated security library from Sun Microsystems Inc. which provides the support for access to secure web sites from The Readerware Browser.

    This release also focuses on improvements to The Readerware Browser. Several problems that users may have encountered when navigating around web sites have been fixed.

    Finally there have been improvements to the Linux version of Readerware. The supported JRE is now the official Sun Microsystems Inc. 1.2 release. A bug in the startup script that could cause some users to be unable to connect to the internet has been fixed and bugs with popup menus have also been fixed.

  • April 9th, 2000 - Readerware is proud to announce the release of Readerware 1.30, a major new release. Readerware 1.30 introduces the Readerware Fish Eye or Hyperbolic Tree viewer. This offers Readerware users a revolutionary new way to easily navigate through even the largest collections. See a screen shot or read more about The Readerware Fish Eye Viewer.

  • April 2nd, 2000 - Readerware 1.24 released. Amazon (US and UK) have updated their web site formats. Readerware 1.24 will work with the new sites and correctly extract data.


  • March 19th, 2000 - Readerware is proud to announce the release of Readerware 1.23 with new international site support. Readerware now includes access to sites in:

    • Brazil
    • Canada
    • England
    • France
    • Germany
    • Switzerland
    • United States

    You can now use all Readerware features at a lot more sites. We have not yet translated Readerware into these languages, the distribution is still in English. But you can now import titles from any site in local languages.

  • March 14th, 2000 - Readerware 1.22 released. This is a maintenance release with a number of bugs fixed.

    Important Note - Beginning with Readerware 1.2.2 the evaluation period is now enforced:

    • If you are already a registered user, thank you for your support. There is no change to the way Readerware operates.

    • If you are a new user installing Readerware for the first time you have a 30 day period in which to evaluate Readerware. After 30 days, you have a 10 day grace period. After a total of 40 days, Readerware will require a registration code. You can register online at anytime from The Readerware Web Site.

    • If you are an existing user but have not yet registered, the evaluation period counter will be reset and you will have the full evaluation period described above, starting from the date you install this upgrade.

    • If you are an existing user, but are not planning to register, please do not install this or any subsequent version of Readerware, as Readerware will stop functioning after the evaluation period has expired. Versions prior to 1.2.2 will continue to work, but obviously there will be no further updates available.

    • If you need additional time to evaluate Readerware, please request an extension to the evaluation period via e-mail from support@readerware.com.

    The following bugs have been fixed in Readerware 1.2.2:

    • A threading problem that would sometimes cause the database to lock up has been fixed.

    • When printing with the flow lines option off, the report will now extend to the full width of the page.

    • Bar code and ISBN handling have been improved. Some barcode readers add leading and/or trailing spaces. Others add spaces between components. Readerware will now correctly handle bar code scans with spaces.

    • The manufacturer code was incorrectly limited to 4 characters. This has been fixed. You can now correctly map UPC manufacturer codes to publisher codes when scanning.

    • Date entered searches now work correctly.


  • February 6th, 2000 - Readerware 1.21 released. Just a minor upgrade release with some UI tweaks designed to make features more accessible.


  • January 30th, 2000 - Readerware proudly announces the release of Readerware 1.20. This major new release features upgrades to the Readerware Browser. Now Readerware supports SSL! You can now seamlessly connect with secure sites and order online safely and securely from any of our online vendors. We offer both global encryption support and 128 bit encryption support for our customers in the US and Canada. Secure access is supported throughout the product, within the Readerware browser, the shopping cart etc.

    We have also added two new vendors, Alibris and Book Closeouts.

  • December 12th, 1999 - Readerware proudly announces the release of Readerware 1.10. This major new release adds support for cover art. Many users have requested that Readerware offer the ability to include thumbnails of book covers in its database. Readerware 1.10 adds this new feature and makes it as easy as possible. The Readerware auto catalog feature now extracts cover art from web sites and automatically adds the image to your database! Current users can even add images to their existing databases at the click of a button. As always there is no easier way to catalog your collection, now that includes images too!! We recommend that all users upgrade to Readerware 1.10 as it also includes some bug fixes and support for changes to the Amazon web site. Upgrade to Readerware 1.10.


  • November 6th, 1999 - Readerware announces the release of Readerware 1.03. This new release fixes an installation problem that prevented a few users from installing the product. If you were unable to install an earlier version, please try Readerware 1.03. All installation problems should be reported to support@readerware.com. Upgrade to Readerware 1.03.


  • October 18th, 1999 - Readerware announces the release of Readerware 1.02. This new release fixes a bug that causes an Auto Catalog to fail if the extracted category contains special characters. We recommend that all users Upgrade to Readerware 1.02.


  • October 10th, 1999 - The Readerware User Home Page has been redesigned. The user home page is for Readerware users only, it is displayed when you open the Readerware web browser window. As always it includes all the latest Readerware news and now adds special offers and promotions from partner sites, the latest issue of The Readerware Newsletter and more! Never miss a bargain, make sure you check out The Readerware User Home Page every time you use the product. Just open the Readerware Web Browser window from the Web menu.


  • September 27th, 1999 - Readerware announces the release of Readerware 1.01. Release 1.01 adds support for the new Library of Congress Voyager database. Voyager replaces the mainframe based LOCIS database. Readerware users can continue to search and catalog from the huge Library of Congress database, now with Voyager. LOCIS is still available but is no longer being updated and will close at the end of the year. So to get the very latest from The Library of Congress, Upgrade to Readerware 1.01.


  • September 27th, 1999 - Readerware announces a new Linux distribution. All the great features of Readerware are now available to Linux users. Download Readerware 1.01 for Linux.
